Well have now managed to free up some time temporarily so need to get with theUkdesi.com project as soon possible! Over the weekend the last remaining boards to add will go up and hopefully the shape of the site in terms of design can be worked on. A new member has joined called FoOlIsH (well he’s a friend of mine) but he does seem to have a great online presence about him so should prove a hit on theUkdesi.com forum.

Some of you may have noticed that upon entering the site, it automatically redirects to the forum page. This has been done using a simple index.php (is the default file that opens) page with the following code:

That’s it!

Unlike most of the other projects, this one is a long term project that will be built up over time with (hopefully) strong links to some of the more stronger and more established players of British Asian media and sites. The target audience is 15-28 year olds from a desi background.

What is a desi though? Good question, according to the Wikipedia, a desi is a person of South Asian origin such as Bangladeshi, Indian, Pakistani or Sri Lankan. This is a similar term to ‘Latinos’, a word usally associated with people of Hispanic backgrounds.

The site will start with the development of the Forum first, once developed, work will start on the rest of the front end content. Stay tuned for more news and updates!
